Blog War Male Cards - Day 2

Hi again bloggers!

Here is another male card to get you all inspired...this one is using a flower stamp but in a way that it still looks good for a guy. I think it was whirlpool bazzill that I used for the base (but any colour fromt he castaway A5 card pack would work wonderfully) and then placed the piece of castaway SB paper on top of that leaving a slight border on left and right. For the tag I stamped cosmos in watermark ink then with my mini mister (filled with water and some walnut stain ink refill) I sprayed the tag very heavily to cover entire tag in the walnut solution. The solution will give a colour over the whole tag but will appear darker on the watermark ink. I then just attached a spiral clip to the tag and stamped a greeting on the background paper with walnut stain distress ink.
Hope you like it!

Blog War Day 1 - Male Cards

Ok Ladies...I am doing well so far as I have my first card for the week posted!
This card is actually one that I am almost ready to submit to Kaszazz as a demonstration card (so any consultants looking...no getting any ideas!!! hehehe).
This card is made using Aspen and Pinecone bazzill, Madero Beach card (Neutrals A5 card pack), green/cream mini gingham and aged copper spiral clip. The image used is 1535LJ Train and this has been stamped in Coffee Bean Vivid! ink.

Hope this gives you all some inspiration for male cards...Father's day is getting close! Be sure to check out the blogs of the other Kaszazz Blog War girls (see blog list on right of this page) for plenty more inspiring ideas.

Happy cardmaking!

MIA & New Product Release

Sorry...I have not managed to do my last 2 days projects for last week...I have still not recovered from my flu and bub has it too! I will attempt to do some of the projects over this week and next week but will not commit to doing them everyday. I have my fundraising crop on 29th March so need to get everything sorted for that and am hoping to design a few new card make and takes for that day. For this reason I will not be doing any giveaways for the next 2 weeks...will start those again when I get back into things properly.

For those that have not yet seen...Kaszazz released some new products today and they are FAB! The bella papers look gorgeous, the stamps as always are fantastic but we also have the 150mm chipboard scallop circles, the Girls Things charms, the ink blending tool and the mini mister organiser. Another fantastic item(s) in the new release is the A to Z album...basically it is a set of different kits to allow you to create a page and pocket layout (1 12x12 page and 6 4x6 mini pages to fit the pocket page inserts in the pebbles albums) for each letter of the alphabet...what a great way to do a year in review album! Check out the new release at www.kaszazz.com

Anyway, keep looking at my blog over the next 2 weeks as I may still upload some pics f my cards I am designing even if they don't fit with the blog war theme.

Blog War Day 2 & 3 - Better late than never!

I know I am slow in getting this up...but atleast I have gotten to it eventually right? Still battling the dreadful flu going around trying to get it better so I can go to work tomorrow. Well anyway here are 2 more projects to inspire you...both incorporating the mini mister with the distress ink.
Day 2 - Shimmer Tag

For this tag, I have created a shimmer spray by adding the following to a mini mister filled 3/4 of the way with water
*3 or 4 drops of Spiced Marmalade Ink refill
*Small scoop (half little finger nail size) of sunflower sparkle perfect pearls
Screw lid back on tightly and shake to mix.
I have basically spritzed the tag with this mix and dried with my heat gun. From there I have stamped my image and sentiment using the black soot distress ink and egded the tag with the spiced marmalade ink pad.

Day 3 - Castaway Cosmos Card

Ok now the featured items in this project are the cosmos stamp (from our January release and one of my faves), castaway paper and tea dye distress ink. I have used the distress ink in a couple of different ways for this card. To start with I have attached the castaway paper to whirlpool bazzill and edged the bazzill with tea dye ink using the hydra sponge. The sentiment has then been stamped with the tea dye ink in the normal way. The tag is the fun thing. As promised I have incorporated the mini mister so this time I have just made a mix of water and about 5 drops of tea dye distress ink refill. So to do the tag I have stamped the cosmos image onto a white tag with watermark ink and then heavily spritzed the tag with my ink solution (you want to be very generous so there is almost a puddle across your tag...dry the tag using the heat gun and watch at how the stamped image absorbs the exta colour from the spray. This is a great way to create a subtle image on a distress project...I might just have to try this on a layout. Oh obviously to finish the card I simply edged the tag with the ink and hydra sponge attached the aged copper spiral and mounted on card using magic mount.

I have started playing around with this same mix of ink and water to see how the mix reacts with different things so hopefully come the end of the week I can fill you all in.

Distress ink is definately versatile.

Don't forget to leave a comment for your chance to win this weeks giveaway! Check out the great projects on the other girls pages too ...The links are down the right hand side of my blog.

Blog War Day 1 - Distressed Inks

Welcome to another week of blog war! I can't wait to see what the other girls come up with using distressed inks. I actually created this card last week for a card swap. I have used distress inks on white gloss card. The background was created by applying the various coloured inks with hydra sponge then I used the lavender stamp from the Spring Time stamp set. Now to stamp this I actually used the stylus tool to apply different colours to the stamp so the flower was in Dusty Concord and the stems in Pine Needles. The sentiment is from the Mini Messages set. If you would like any more details please feel free to ask...have not been well today so the head is not working well for explanations. I look forward to coming up with many creations for you this week. Don't forget to check what the other girls have been up to!

Blog War Day 5 - Vellum

Above is the view of the double page layout.

A bit backwards but this is the right hand page. This page uses a lot of vellum...the frames and the writing on the right are part of the Inspiration vellum (I have cut the other part of the vellum off to use on a different project). Bascially I have torn the insides of the frames out so that I could attach my photos behind. A little hard to see in this picture, but there is a torn section on the Make Believe vellum attached over the PIP - Daisies/Squircles paper. The flower on this page and the ones on the left are a brown and pink fabric flower layered on each other with a 13mm rhinestone in the centre.
Obviously this is the left hand page of my layout and is made to fit in the 6x4 page protecters. The protectors are 12x12 in size and fit in the Pebbles Share and Tell album (3 ring binder album)...it is made to fit 6 individual 6"x4" photos. I have created individual little layouts to match in with my main page. The borders on each of the sections are from the PIP cut-out sheet and all the wording on this page is from the Make Believe vellum.
OK, so end of my first blog week! You have until midnight Sunday to leave a comment and I will announce the winner of the 3 12x12 vellum sheet on Monday.
Don't forget to check out what the other girls did for their week of vellum!

Blog War Day 4 - Vellum

Hi there

Better late than never! Here is my 4th vellum project for the week. I have used vellum in 2 ways on this layout. Firstly the writing over the bottom half of page is Girl Thing vellum that has been laid over Gelati - Stripy Journal paper. For the second vellum use...I decided I wanted a softer look to my photo so I printed a black and white photo directly onto my vellum then mounted it onto pink bazzill to give the photo a hint of pink! Not the best photo of the layout but you get the idea...I really need to work on my photography skills.

Clever Girl

Chloe's walking has improved heaps tonight...she was managing longer distance and she was really working on her balance...if she started wobbling she stopped to balance then continued. It won't be long now!

Blog War Vellum Day 3

Ok...a small gift card! I have used the vellum to create a faux lace. To make the lace edge I used the corner rounder punch (without the corner guide in) to create the scallop edge. I then used the medium and small holes in the silent setter and then dry embossed to emphasize the ede with the bone scorer. I have used the small rose from the latest release and used fluid chalks to stamp the image and edge the papers.

Don't forget to leave a comment for your chance to win 3 sheets of 12x12 vellum. Be sure to visit the other girls blogs too...we all have giveaways as part of our blog war!!!

My Little Cutie

Have had a couple of requests from a few people to see some more recent pics of Chloe...in particular her pierced ears! So here are a couple of pics for you to gush over :) At 14months Chloe is almost walking...she can do 3 or 4 steps most of the time and yesterday managed about 2metres on her own so before long she will be off and running...I think half her problem is she wants to go so fast and the top of her body moves quicker than her feet!!! She just has such a little personality (and not always good...she can be a little miss don't you worry) and loves telling other people off when they don't do what she wants. The 3rd pic is from her friends 1st Birthday in January, he had a pirate party and I could not resist dressing to theme.

Blog Award

Just got home nice and late from running the 12x12 Daisy Castaway Layout 2H workshop and found my first blog award from the wonderful Lauren!

Thank you for thinking of me Lauren...my blog is still very much a work in progress but I think I have done OK so far. I am sure once I figure some more stuff out I can pretty it up a bit more.

I will have to keep a look out to pass the award on as so far all the bloggers I know already have it! I am still very new to the whole blog thing.

See you all tomorrow with some more vellum ideas!

Blog War Vellum Day 2

OK, I am in early with this one as I made it last night! This single 12x12 page was based on a sketch I found at http://www.rakscraps.com/. Where is the vellum, you may ask??? For the journalling of this page I have printed my journalling and title onto a piece of vellum...this way it still gives you a glimpse of the paper beneath. The flower has been distressed with the walnut stin ink so that it was not quite as bright as normal and blended better with the papers used.
The following products were used:
  • 4751 - Flourish Espresso/Dots 12x12 Paper
  • 4220 - Juneberry 12x12 Bazzill Basics
  • 1913 - A4 Vellum
  • 4696 - Daisies (one blue one)
  • PSP03C - Small Daisy Punch
  • 4737 - Embellishment Kit Aged Copper (mini round fastener)
  • TIM19534 - Walnut Stain Distress Ink

This was a really quick an easy page to make and was made in less than 15mins!

Don't forget to leave a comment here and with any of the other Blog War participants for your chance to be in this weeks giveaway! Please visit

My Growing Girl

Could not resist sharing this recent picture of my darling little Chloe!

Blog War - Day 1

Well as promised I have completed my first project! This weeks "product of the week" is Vellum...so keep looking throughout the week for plenty of ideas. At the end of each week there will be a giveaway for one lucky person who has left a comment on one of my projects. The giveaway may be the projects that have been made or may actually be the product of the week. This week there will be a prize of some actual vellum so don't forget to comment. Also, I will attemp to add links to the other Blog War participants so you can check their ideas out too!

So this is my day 1 vellum project

This card is based on one I designed for one of my first Kaszazz card swaps. I never kept a copy so decided to recreate it. There are a couple of variations but the same general overall look. The vellum in this project has been used to create an overlay over the doll faces to give them a softer appearance.

I have used the following tools/product:

  • 6066 - White 8x8 Card
  • 9205 - Lilac a5 Card (from pastel A5 Card Pack)
  • 9492 - Funky Purple A5 Card
  • 1913 - A4 vellum
  • 42001 - Basic Brights Chalks
  • 09317 - Vivid! Purple Mini Inkpad
  • 26003 - Doll Face Jumbo Rollagraph Wheel
  • 006KK - Mini Messages Stamp Set

Kaszazz Blog Wars

I have decided to join in on a great challenge with some fellow Kaszazz consultants across Australia. Basically each week we will have a "product of the week" and I will need to create a new project each day using that item for you all to see! My computer is being tempramental at the moment so I will see how I go getting it all going. Wish me luck and hopefully I will be back later with a creation to show.
